    Hello
I hope someone can give me a pointer or idea of what might be wrong...
My T4 1.9td 800special has started giving me problems putting it into gear...
It happens cold as well as hot... and if you try to select a gear, its like you hit a brick wall with the gear stick.. if you depress the clutch press it in again it will either go into gear, or you have to repeat the clutch in and out a couple of times..
Its only just started to do this, and "seems" to have come on very suddenly, one day it was fine, and the next, trouble...
    Seems to be mostly 1st / 3rd / 4th and a bit 5th :-D 2nd doesnt seem to suffer..
Is this likely to be a clutch problem or something more sinister like the gearbox? There are no odd or nasty noises at all, just wont go into gear...
    Its done 170k Miles
Any pointers would be much appreciated...
    Many Thanks
    J Fisher

Don't know butI have the sme problem with my 2.5 Tdi T4. Possibly the synchromesh? I've had the clutch replaced fairly recently, so don't think it's that. Have you changed the gearbox fluid?

Yes. I can select all gears when engine is switched off - My problem is with second gear only

The van's done 150,000 - any ideas how long they last (I fully realise it's all down to the level of abuse it's had)

I couldn't get any gears at all in mine, and the clutch felt fine .it was one of the small springs in the plate broke and all the bits went behind the main diaphram spring, making the clutch a bit intermittant.Could try turning the engine over by hand and listening for rattles in the clutch housing

Could be the wrong oil in there causing drag.
