Hi, as some of you may know Iv been trying to upgrade to remote locking with a genuine Audi flip key, so far Iv had the key cut, and swapped the transponder over, all is going well as the car starts with the new key, wich the guy at northwest keys bet me it wouldnt!!Any ways, Iv come to recode my CL pump to accept the RF key, but Im finding its not accepting any of the base codes found on the ross tech website [http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/audiB5.html]

A4 pre-1998 with Delta radio and anti-theft system
    Standard Coding: 03468

A4 pre-1998 with Delta radio, anti-theft system and keyless entry
    Standard Coding: 12172

    A4 1998+ with Concert/Symphony radio and anti-theft system
    Standard Coding: 03340

    S4, A4 1998+ with Concert/Symphony radio, anti-theft system and keyless entry
    Standard Coding: 16140

Add the following options to your coding number:
+64 Windows up, sunroof close, and windows down with remote.
-04 One touch unlock of all 4 doors and trunk
-1024 Remove horn honk when arming
+32 Auto lock/unlock of doors (Doors lock at 15 mph and unlock when key is removed)

    My car will accept :

    Standard Coding: 03468
    Standard Coding: 03340

But neither of the keyless entry codes. My origional code is/was 00266 wich I bumped up to 00298 for the auto door-lock that works perfectly. The pumps part No. is
8LO 862257 H and Iv been told thats the correct pump for accepting incomming RF from the key.

Just wondering i anybody has any idea of the coding I should be looking for? The battery ran out on my laptop midway through my fiddling so the poor thing is left with the wrong code as it is(but still works and will be rectified once the laptop is back up). Id hate to have to admit defeat and buy an after market RCL kit, as Iv always liked having proper stuff! The car is a 1998 1.6 A4 B5 engine code probly isnt very importat but its AHL just incase it matters. Thanks for any help you can give me, I await responces with fingers crossed!

Not sure if the ross-tech guys visit here...if not you might want to post over at audiworld.com

Have you still got the original Audi radio??? as I know removal of that can cause issues with some of the control modules that run via it/expect to see it.

Just had a look at my base code ans suspect it started out something like the one on the ross-tech site....as I've got alarm beeb, autolock, seatbelt, remote windows etc.....all going

    Is your 'H' pump original?

A replacement pump from another car will default to the basecode of the car it came from (not your own vehicle).

00266 is the basecode for an Audi A3 1998> with central locking and anti-theft (13130 would be the A3 code for the above +keyless entry).

    http://www.robvanguard.co.uk/a3/CODING98.pdf

I dont think your aftermarket radio part of the anti-theft circuit is a problem, unless your alarm and other advanced locking features are not working.

First thing to do is make sure your car is actually receiving an RF signal (correct pump and/or remote).

Goto your central locking controller, measuring blocks - channel3 - block 4 (you should see four zero's 0000 with no sync'ed remotes) Hold in a button on your remote, and one of the zeros should change to a one.
This proceedure should acknowledge any remote compatible with the car, even if it is not sync'ed to the car.

If the 'H' pump is an 'RF' pump, and your remote is working, you will only have to try a few different codes before finding the correct decimal setting.

12232 is the setting on my 'G' pump in my 97 A4. (16200 equivalent for later 8L0 cars)

Ah ha, more info, this is good yaaa!!Well if its an a3 pump then surely Ill need to put a3 codes into it? I checked through the measuring blocks and it didnt seem to recieve any RF signal at all, so is it a case of putting A3 codes into it to activate the RF and then match the remote that way?

The codes you need to use are still the original ones for your car, designated by model & age/radio type.

Although it cant hurt to try different ones.

Have you confirmed with an Audi parts dep't that the 8L0 'H' pump has the RF interface, as i can find very little info on it, and that is mostly Eastern European.

I've not checked myself actually, however looking through old posts on here it seems that most pumps with the 'H' suffix are RF compatible. I tried the A3 pump code, and the origional A4 Code (16200) and it wouldnt accept those.

Heres how it looks so far

Hmm yep, must admit I'm not sure on an 'H' - that's the same as the one I took out of our Audi 80 TDi that never had remote locking from factory. And thinking back on your year....Audi in UK did not fit their own branded units to the A4 - think it was all Sony units.....not sure when the change came....

That H unit - is it one with 3 plugs to it or just 2? Got the full part number....

Also chaps....what about the receiving aerial.....I remember posts on getting better performance by moving the aerial line....so assume it's part of the loom rather than the pump....don't recall ever having any lead coming from a replacement pump...could it be missing?

I was just looking that number up on my older version of the parts software....not found so was going to have a look at the new one I've got at home...but that's going to be the same as what the dealer has.....

If you go back and use 4A0 - the older numbering system....it comes up for a stack of cars....mostly with no RF from what I can see....some are for IR as used on early cars - 100/A6 for example....with your 8L0 it suggests an M revision for the RF remote.....and G lists as just control unit....so guessing no remote locking. What VIN number do you have, I'll see if I can see the split when IR/RF or no remote happend.

If it was not for the extra fob I'd say just add in the votex kit in-line on the loom and be done with it.....unless we can establish it's just the pump revision at fault here.....
