Hi, could someone tell me how to reset the service light/prompt on my 57 plate diesel Passat. I have had it serviced but now just need it switching off.

    Cheers

Can't you just pop back in to the dealer (or any dealer)?

Are you on the long life service scheme or fixed interval..... 10k mile / 12 months???

If you are on Long life, it needs to be reset with with Vag-com or similar, but if fixed it can be done at the dash....

Can't the place that did the work reset it then?

Failing that, can't you go to another VW dealer, make up some story about it being serviced at another dealer but you've "forgotten" the service book and see if they'll do it?

Believe it is set on standard interval but the reset must be different from my previous passat (model before this) as i can not get it to reset using the same theory!!! Please let me know how to do this if you know.

    Cheers

Ah... I thought it would be the same?

Use the search function at the top of the page (on the right hand side)

Hopefully you'll find the answer there

    Good luck

Passat b6\ 3c fixed serv. interval reset
Press and hold the wrench button, push the key to on position but do not start the car...relealse the wrench button.....
at this point you should see something like ....service now message on your MFD

Now press and hold for couple of seconds wrench button again until you get following message on your MFD:

    service in ----
    days to service ---

key to off position and you are done.

I seem to recall that the manual says that if you use the spanner button to reset it then the readout will then only alert you to fixed rather than the variable service intervals, or something like that.
