Here's how to get your car valued by Glass's guide. It will cost you nothing and no personal details are taken. It normally costs £2.95 online.

The price it will show you is the Part Exchange price.

Other good ways to try and value your car are through Autotrader for your area. This will give you a guide as to what you should try and sell for. remembering that other people might want a quick sell and therefore price it low. And other people might not be in a hurry and will price it high. And also through Audi's Used Car Locator. Again using the averages that you get and being realistic about it's condition and specification.

Anyway... the Glass's guide free valuation is done through Vauxhall.co.uk, just hover over the 'Owners' link and then click on 'Value Your Car'.

    Bingo..

Current Car: Skoda Octavia vRS Hatch 2.0TDi 170 CR in Candy White
Outgoing Car: 2007 56 Plate Audi A3 Sport Sportback 2.0TDi 170 PD in Black

You could also try the following linkto the AA website which also uses the Glass's guide. This also gives you the retailer selling price as well as the trade price.

The whatcar version of the valuation which the AOL site uses was way out when it came to the part Ex price.

Dealers will generally ONLY use Glass's Guide to value your car.

Privately Selling then using Whatcar, AOL, Glass's and other Autotrader based examples should get you the right price based on an average of the above.

    Take mine:

    2007 56 plate A3 170 Sportback Sport with 34000 miles:

    Whatcar Used Price: £17,022
    AOL: £17,030
    Glass's Guide: somewhere between £16,500 and £17,000
    Autotrader: between £15,995 and £16,995

So putting it on at £17k would not get me many calls so I'd stick it on at £16,495

Outgoing Car: 2007 56 Plate Audi A3 Sport Sportback 2.0TDi 170 PD in Black

Only just read this thread, and tried a few valuations. It just proves how the secondhand car market has fallen, I can't believe the price they came up with for my car, it's insulting!!!!!
