Hi there, just wondering what everyone thinks about the car as a whole?

what made you decide to buy this specific model? and what do you think its pro's and con's are?

just wondering its good points before i decided to purchase.

Pros: Huge amount of space when needed, good flexibility with seating/luggage to suit every need, reliability, removable seats, economy, towing & carrying power, high driving position, relaxed drive.

Cons: Poor cornering & soggy drive, no luggage room with seven seats in use, niggly faults (water ingress, electrics, wipers), very heavy seats.

Having a Touran now I really appreciate the cornering & Golf like drive, understeering around corners was not fun in the Sharan - but I still missing being able to take all the seats out and carry huge amounts of stuff. Also the Touran drags along the ground when fully loaded, the Sharan didn't really notice being full up.

Well I'm a bit of a Sharan fan I'm on my second one now the first one lasted 8 years before it's untimely death when I crashed it :-(
It was still in perfect order and I'm sure would have still lasted for a good few years.

When the family and friends asked what will I replace it with they were shocked because it was the same but newer Sharan TDI.

We caravan a lot with a 24ft 1.500KG van and it tows like a dream we've been allover Scotland and the biggest hills were a breeze.

The economy is well fantastic a genuine 45mpg without the caravan. It is cheap on servicing because the parts last so long, I don't find the seats heavy to lift out as some do but cornering is not it's best ability the steering lock is very poor but easy to get used to.

I cannot think of a better vehicle to move people around in comfort at a price that the average working person can easily afford, in fact if I won the lottery I wouldn't choose another car it does everything I want with perfect ease and comfort.

Hope this helps and I'm sure if you do get one you too will be happy.

Had ours from new since aug 2003. 1.9tdi 115ps with Auto box, and tinted windows. Done 10 -14 hours drives to places like Austria and Italy with no problems and about 40+MPG.
Personally I like smaller cars which is why I driver Micra at the moment and thinking about getting a Golf. But for long journey with 2 Children, Bikes, Luggage all inside the back, the Sharan is very good indeed.
Probably the only downside I can think of is it takes a long time to cool down/heat up inside (as it is a big car of course)

Sorry should have added. Would highly recommend the front and rear parking sensors. Well worth the money.
