Hi Everyone, i have just had my B5 A4 1.8t plugged into VAGCOM. For the last few days i have been unable to open the passenger front door, the last time it was locked the deadlock must have engaged and now it just wont open at all, not from inside, outside or by any other means!

VAGCOM came back with a code of 01332 - No Communication, does this mean there is no power to the door? If this is the case does anybody know what may have caused this and possibly a fix?, i cant even open the door to remove the panel and have a look!!

    PLEASE HELP!

Door control unit, passenger's side -J387 defective - Defective wiring or connectors
Using Read measured value block; display group number 012 => display zone 2, a check can be made to see if the door control unit is active.A long shot, because i have not experianced it to affect just the one door, lift the carpet (pass side) there you will find the comfort control unit if you remove about 20cm of the insulation from the wiring, here you will find a connection 4-6 red wires joined together, these are the power supply to the door units. If you find no fault there, then you must remove the door trim, the fault is at the door control unit.

But for future reference, and any other poor sod experiencing this problem, after finally finding as set of door cards on e-bay and purchasing them the bloddy door has decided to open on its own, i opened the boot and all other doors to vacuum the car and the bloody thing just opened!!!!

It's off to audi specialist tomorrow to get sorted out!!!

I'll let you know what was actually wrong with it when i find out!

Hi You should pull back the rubber gaiter from the door pillar to the door and check the wiring harness, you might save yourself a bit of cash.

Been in to the garage again, THEY CANT FIX IT!!!!!

    They say it is either:

A wiring problem (But also said power is coming through to the door!)

The regulator on the window motor (Because the window also fails to operate from either switch)

The actual door lock (they say the lock mechanism may be sticky, hence the open or locked, but if this was the case why the 'no communication fault code'?

I'm at a loss with this now, i'm considering buying a window motor / regulator and fitting it myself, about £50.

I still havn't checked the wiring in the gator though, after this do you think i might find something?

Hi the reason for the fault code has nothing to do with the door lock, nor has it anything to do with the window regulating motor. The fault code suggests a break in the current supply wire or the can bus wires.to the door control unit, driver's side

What might be a good idea is to remove the door trim, just incase, and at the same time check the multistick connector on the control unit i have seen these corroded

I've removed the door trim, thats no problem. The door is now stuck in the unlocked position but at least it opens and closes!

I've checked all the connections to the control unit (this is the thing attached to the window motor isn't it?) and everything looks ok, i removed the pax seat and checked the control unit and the wiring, again everything looked ok!

What are the can bus wires? Something i havn't checked is inside the drivers door, is it possible that the problem originates there?

The garage it has just been to said that there was power coming through but couldnt tell me where or indeed where it stopped!

I'm at the end of my tether with it now, do you think i might be better off getting a sparky to look at it or just bite the bullet and take it to Audi?

    Cheers

    Andy

The window motor etc has nothing to do with this i am afraid, the connector you are looking for is on the door catch itself iirc, make sure that it is nice and secure. I would assume if its all ok, you need a new door catch/CL motor ***'y

You need to measure the current on the door controll unit, remove the contact, you should have 12v on pin 2 a red on green wire, pin 3 a red on green wire and pin 6 a red on black wire. The can bus wires orange on brown and orange on green they run from the convenience system central control unit,to the door control unit. It is these two wires that send out all operating signals to the door locks and all window functions. These wires are very thin and prone to damage.Because of the fault code you have had (no communication),i do not think it is the door lock. All the wires are in the gaiter.
