    HI!
    CAN ANYBODY HELP ME!

I have a 1.6 1996 golf mk3 Magneti Marelli (AEE) engine, i think, got it 6 months ago. I took it to a garage spent over £600! full service, cam belt changed + other stuff got it back was ok and then it started idleing really bad.......

It had a K&N filter, but it was filthy, and old, someone had not clicked the oil dipstick all the way in and OIL splashed over K&N air filter and went into the little air filter and down the breather pipe! I took off K&N filters and it started running bit better straight away, but then next day crap!

I then took off beather housing and pipe and it was jam packed with old oil (mayo) and a bit of water, i cleaned it put it back on, sprayed out butterfly throttle housing with carb cleaner, got a original air filter housing from scrapy fitted it and put slick50 in the fuel!! OK!

Started running bit better, the more i drove it but VERY LUMPY sounds like a tractor! Kept stalling when parking, full lock on power steering! Then tonite a parked it, went back to it and its DEAD! then engine turns but nothing happens, cant smell as any fuel either!!

It has a hole in the centre box of exhust, front tyre leans in at the top, lock broke the other day! whats next!

I bought a crap car, but WONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AGAIN! Always go through the history well, you can learn alot about how the car was treated.. **** in this case!
Did i need to do a throttle body alignment? follw link:

I thought VW was good, now i dont know ....

Fuel consumption is SO high and running like tractor, no power at low revs + VERY LUMPY!

    ALSO I noticed:

WHen i tuch my HT ignition leads i get a little electric shock, this cant be right! Do i need new leads, will that help fuel consumption? It has recently been serviced, do they change leads on service?

Hole in exhust, will this efect fuel consumption?
Where can i get my throttle body alignment done?
