Hi sorry if this has been covered before but my passat 2002 tdi sport is being a big pain in the butt

what happened was the wife let the fuel go in to the red then filled it up since then we have a intermittent problem with getting any speed out of the car
when it has just started most times she runs great then all of a sudden I cant get her over 60 and if you put the foot down the revs go up the speed wont even going up hill she loses speed.
I have replaced the fuel filter and put in some fuel additives that should help clear the injectors but with no luck.

Still get times up to 16 miles before it goes limp other times its only a few miles and it makes no sense to me because its intermittent

any help especially if it can save a big garage bill much appreciated

Sounds to me like it's going into limp mode.
Find someone with vag-com in your local area, get fault codes read
and this could shed some light on the problem.
Could be leaking boost pressure or overboost....

Have the same fault on my A6 Gear box.
    1 Fault Found:
18265 - Load Signal: Error Message from ECU
    P1857 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
This puts my gearbox into limp mode and i have to pull over and re start.

Changed the MAP sensor, fuel filter air filter etc.
Let me know if you get any results, ive been scouring the A6 forum looking for answers but none to date....
    Best of luck

Same thing happened to me yesterday! What is going on here!
In the past I have had the same problem with my A4 jetta. It turned out to be a flakey MAF. I put a new one in and never had the problem again.
Another friend of mine with an 02 golf experienced something similar and it turned out to be the accelerator sensor. In my experience, when it goes it doesn't start working again after shutting off the car and restarting it.
    Hope these suggestions help.
