    Hi,

My rears are due to be changed and my fronts have got a few 1000's left in them.

A friend told me that as its a quattro i have to change all four together to prevent damage to the haldex system.

If it is ok to have a wear difference between front and back can i have a tire model difference.... obviously not size, but brand/model?

    Any advice appreciated.

    Thanks

There is nothing to worry on Haldex quattro as they are most of the time front wheel drive ! You must keep the same size/rolling radius but not the same marque ! Thats why it explains why the rears are wearing less then the front tyres. On Torsen quattros, is necessary to have all 4 tyres replaced at the same time because all wheels are driven 50/50% between the axles so, they will wear equally . As long as you keep the same size tyres, you will be ok.
