Back on Nov, 13, 2006, a guy named Dan BH posted something that seemed to go unresolved:

"I have an anoying vibration that I can feel through the accelerator pedal, particularly at low revs and when I am decelerating. The car has been checked over several times at a friendly garage but all appears fine."

That's exactly how I would describe the problem I am having with my 2000 VW Passat (1.8 L turbo). Here is a more detailed description:

--The vibration is a very consistent "thump thump thump" like the knocking in a washing machine that is off-balance
--You cannot feel it in 1st
--It is only barely noticeable in 2nd
--It is most obvious in 3rd gear when decelerating at about 3,000 RPM.
--You can both hear and slightly feel it in 4th and 5th gears around 3,000 RPM.
--The vibration does not shake the whole car, but everyone in the car can hear it, and front-seaters can feel it in the floorboard.

Has anybody had any experience with this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

PS: this happened when I got my car back from the dealership. So I took it back and said, "Now it is vibrating." So they looked at it and said, "It is just mis-firing. It should be fine...it is mis-firing because you brought it in with the gas light on and it probably just has bad gas in it. Fill it up a tank or two and drive it and it should clear up on it's own." Well, it's been 2 tanks and it hasn't cleared up, so I'm just seeing if anyone has a second opinion!

Thanks,
