Hi, I'm new to this forum and have had my Golf MkIV Cabriolet for about 9 months. I've also gota Touran and been on ClubTouren.net for several years.

When the dark winter nights started, I found a problem with my headlamp wash - which I didn't even know I had fitted! My Avantguard has had pretty well every option on the list ticked - aircon, side airbags, heater leather seats, wind blocker, detachable towbar, headlamp wash!

Back on track..... basically when the wash is activated (i.e. lights + sreen wash), the headlamp jets half pop up, spray a bit of water onto the bumper and a lot underneath the bumper, then pop down again. Then the system seems to then siphon the entire contents of the washer bottle - I found this when entering the garage and being overpowered by the stench of washer fluid and found 2 large puddles at each front corner of the car.

The 2nd pump on the washer bottle is obviously working and I didn't see any leaks in the pipework up to the point where it leaves the engine bay and dissapears into the front bumper.
Refilling the bottle and activating the wash gave the same results, with a steady trickle of water at each front corner until the bottle was empty (I just left it an hour as it was like watching paint dry!).

Anyone had similar experiences? Don't forget that a MkIV cabrio is really a MkIII with Mk IV bumper/lights grafted on.

For now I've unplugged the power supply to the second pump in order to keep the bottle full!!

Anyone have any ideas before I start ripping my bumper off to see what is going on?
