Thinking of buying one of these in the Spring. Has anyone got any views/experiences on how it stacks up against the 207/Corsa/Clio/Punto equivalents?

Well I have had my GTI for a year and a half now and I still get that feeling you get when ur about to drive a new car for the 1st time. Its such and wee pocket rocket ( as standard ) and with a simple remap (200BHP) your doing 0 - 60 in 6.1/6.2 secs! Which comes as a suprise to alot of ppl! Only other mods i have done to the engine is a bigger intake and a panel filter and again u can feel an improvment to the preformance! Down side was the suspension on the car, i felt it too "springy" especially after the remap when shootin round corners, recently fitted my new springs and has improved greatly!! Also looking into the 312mm brake conversion on the front in the near future as its going a lot quicker it needs to stop a lot quicker!

All in all it such a fun car to drive plus it has so much potential for mods on the 1.8T engine!!!

    Some pics of mine:

Cheers Kenny. The car looks great! - especially in red. I was toying with silver or black but the red makes it look really aggressive. I noticed in EVO magazine that the GTI posted some good laptimes so it clearly handles well. I'm also keen to buy something that is well built (my main car is an Audi) and reliable. Did you have any upgrade options? I'm thinking about the leather seats but they are quite pricey. If I go for it I will definately look into the remap.

New Member and realise it's a bit of a late reply but bought myself a Polo GTI September last year and it's by far the best car i've had...

I would say against anything French it wipes the floor just for the sheer fact it's reliable! As for Corsa's and Punto's i would just say the fact that there's not many GTI's going about has got to be positive. You don't really want to have the same as everyone else do you. Although they're generally slightly more expensive than the others i'd defo say they're worth it.

Mines is Black with no mods but general performance is pretty good. If a simple remap get's you and extra 50 bhp then you're jammin!!

    Would recommend one to anyone!

Got to admit also they Red is pretty cool too. Wasn't that much of a fun to start with but having seen these picture i'd need to agree! Nice!
