    Hi there,

Having recently come into possession of a Touran I'ev found that it hasn't been driven in a month and as such the battery has gone flat and now it won't start.

Is it ok to charge the battery using a standard charger ? manual says not but not sure if this is just the usual manufacturers trick to get you to one of their service centers.

How do you remove the battery if I want to replace it ? I've undone the terminal brackets but the thing won't budge.

    Cheers,
    Mully

No worries just got it done there, here's a quick run down.

The entire battery has a plastic casing around it, remove the top of this.

    Remove the terminal clamps.

What is left runs around the outside of the battery like an exterior wall, it is divided and clipped together halfway back.

Remove the front section- beware it will take a bit of brute force but essentially rocking it back and forwardwill get the two side clips free, then pulling towards you and up will remove the clips at the front.

Next you will see a bolt on the LHS this is clamped over the bottom lip of the battery and holds it in place very sturdily. I think it is a 13 mm socket you need to remove this, I suggest unscrewing by hand once you have loosened to prevent the clamp and screw falling.

After this jiggle the battery a bit to the left then pull towards you and it should come out.

Then you are free to charge \ replace whatever !

    That was really useful thanks.

Btw, the battery supplied by halfords was wrong. They supplied a hb110 which was listed but I changed it for a shorter hcb096 that was an exact fit.
