    Hi

My Golf has got a 6 cd changer in the boot connected to a Gamma radio cassette in the car, but i want to change the radio to a nice head unit, but still keep using my 6 cd changer in the boot,

I have looked online, and JVC and Sony, dont use the same CD Changer connection as the VW One, so then i realised that the Gamma radio in my golf is a Blaupunkt, so i looked at the install instructions on a Blaupunkt radio in halfords, and it has the same connection as mine.

So does that mean it will work? or will no other radio work with that type of connection?

The picture of the connection going into the radio is this link:

    Any Help Would be Appreciated.

    Matthew

I have just looked at the way the cables are wired, and the VW OEM changer wiring is slightly different to the connection on the back of the new Blaupunkt radio i intend to buy? the connection on both is the Blue 8 Pin Mini Iso.

    The VW Radio (Blaupunkt) Is:

    13: CD Changer Data IN
    14: CD Changer Data Out
    15: CD Changer Clock
    16: CDC +12V/+12V CDC Permanent
    17: +12V Switched
    18: Changer Ground
    19: Changer AF Input (Left)
    20: Changer AF Input (Right)

    Blaupunkt MP3 CD Player is:

    13: CD Changer Data IN
    14: CD Changer Data Out
    15: CDC +12V/+12V CDC Permanent
    16: +12V Switched
    17: BUS Ground
    18: AF Ground
    19: Changer AF Input (Left)
    20: Changer AF Input (Right)

So there are a couple of connections that arent the same? does anyone know if the ones that are different will make a difference? and if i can rewire it, and whether it would work?

    Thanks

    Matthew

    Thanks for the advice,

The reason i wanted to change it was because the New Blaupunkt one can take bluetooth phone handsfree, and has an aux in at the front for my ipod, and it was only about 120 pounds, so i thought if i could just get the changer working aswell, then it would all be nice and tidy and working,

I might aswell see what happens then!

    Thanks

    Matthew

Sorry I don't get on here much at weekends... The two units aren't compatible, without the aid of some adapters. In addition to the physical differences you have noticed, the data protocols are different and won't work.

There are adapters that Blaupunkt make that will allow the aftermarket head unit to talk to the Factory changer, but it's quite expensive. Bluespot.co.uk sell it as cheap as anyone. If you need more advice please ask.

    Thanks for the help.

To be honest, the blaupunkt radio i was looking at has bluetooth, and an ipod connection, aswell as a usb connection for music on flash drives or extrernal hard drives,

So the cd changer isnt that important to be honest, i just hoped it would all work together.

Can i just ask if my current ISO radio connection is the same as the Blaupunkt one, so i can just plug it in?

    Thanks

    Matthew

No its not, I would recommend purchasing a Blaupunkt adapter part number 7607 621 129. This will completely connect the new head unit correctly and provide the aerial adapter required as well. Without it you'll get some strange problems.

    Thanks, thats handy to know.

Do you have a link to the adaptor? or an idea of what it is called exactly?

    Thanks
