My 2002 A6 temperature guage is fluctuating between 60 to 90 and I think is is the coolant sensor. Can anyone help on locating it?

    Thanks
    I can see it.
To get the connector and clip off you need to be a contortionist with very thin arms.

Anyone got a guide to changing this? Would a faulty one of these cause the engine to over-rev, especially when starting? My guage in the car sometimes reads 90, sometimes sits at around 70, sometimes at 0, which can change at anytime even during driving.
    Thanks.

This sensor mucking around can cause the idle to be unstable. It's cheap to change.

Different versions are different colours, so difficult to fit the wrong part.
