A colleague of mine with a Q5 had a DPF regen problem today and I happened to have my OBDeleven in the car, and the error logged was Particulate Filter Regeneration Duration Bank 1 - code P245800. I have reset the error. I've never owned a diesel myself so I just wanted a quick steer on what the best way forward is? The car tends to do local trips which won't be helping, so regens quite frequently I gather - and I assume the error means it's pretty clagged up and taking too long to do it's thing. I've suggested a really good long run might help but I'm not sure if this will be enough to stop the error coming back. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks!

You need to look at the DPF soot and ash loading figures. It will probaly need a service regeneration whilst standing, I don't know if OBD11 and do this.

Thanks Crasher - mine is OBDeleven Pro which I bought before I got VCDS. I've found posts that suggest it might be able to, so I'll look into that. Do you happen to know if VCDS will do it without using up a VIN (I've a Hex-V2 with a three VIN licence and they are all spoken for!).

I have never used a VIN based HEX-NET, I would have used three VIN's today and we kept it quiet today with people off.

Thanks Crasher - I'll give it a go and see what it can do.
