    Question T5.1 Bonnet release handle pops bonnet but then can't get bonnet to lift – 10-02-2025,04:09 PM
    Hi, when I use the bonnet release handle in the driver's footwell, the bonnet pops up as expected.

    When I use the lever under the bonnet release & lift the bonnet, it's stuck - it seems the loop is stuck in the catch. Does anyone have any advice please?

    I've searched for answers but they reference the bonnet release handle not working at all, due to the cable popping-off.
    I assume mine hasn't popped off as the bonnet does at least pop-up.

    Any thoughts appreciated

    It turned out the under-bonnet-release had gone very stiff, most likely hadn't received grease for a while / got a good dowsing from the jet wash the week prior.

    Whilst holding the leaver in, I give it a bit of a sharper push up than normal and it opened.

    I sprayed with WD-40 (rusty stuf came out), dried, and them lube'd with white lithium grease... now working freely.
