    I have a 2012 Audi A6 C7 automatic multitronic sport diesel.

When car is stationary on an uphill, and then when pulling away it judders and sometimes can cut out. You have to get the accelerator at a sweet spot to keep engine from cutting out. Too much gas or too little will make the car cut out or judder when pulling away.

Its not a daily occurrence but happens now and again.

EGR has been renewed not long ago. New fuel & air filter. Transmission Oil changes have been done accordingly. This issue has got gradually worse overtime.

Could it be the oxygen sensor?
    Please help

Could be a lot of things only option is a scan with an OBD tool such as VCDS

So after scanning, there's no fault coming up. What should I look into in terms of the live results? Thanks

Last time i had a car die as i tried to pull away it was fuel pressure sensor on the high pressure fuel pump, but that left a fault code

When it acts up, does the rev counter drop to zero or drop more rapidly then you would expect, jumping up again when it recovers?

So the RPMs are low anyway because the engine is idle, and then when trying to pull away the RPMs drop but quickly recover after pulling away. That's if the engine of course hasn't decided to cut out.

    Could it be
    MAF
    Oxygen sensor
Fuel not being pumped forward with enough pressure on an uphill? Maybe an inline fuel valve ? Hmm

Frustrating. Trying to think outside the box

The reading of the rev counter dropping and recovering BUT critically not in relation to how you hear the engine , says to me crankshaft speed sensor failure and this is notorious for not leaving a fault code.

    So just to be clear,
Revs drop, engine hesitates and either the revs and engine recover or everything cuts out.

Do you think it's still the crankshaft sensor? If so any idea where it's located. Not much info on this online.

    Thanks
