    Hi,

My 2009 1.9TDI has intermittent power loss problems, feels like limp mode but it only lasts 1-2 seconds and goes, always under initial acceleration at low revs, coil light on dash starts flashing, but then drive normally for rest pf journey. The problem can be gone for a few weeks at a time then return. It recently had the vacuum pump replaced as this was leaking oil everywhere. It hasn't had the fault since for three weeks until today where its started again. I have scanned it and it always throws up the following faults:

16610/P0226 - Throttle Pedal Position Sensor (G79): Implausible Signal

    P161A/005658 - Glowplug for Cylinder 1 (Q10): Open Circuit

    P161B/005659 - Glowplug for Cylinder 2 (Q11): Open Circuit

    P161C/005660 - Glowplug for Cylinder 3 (Q12): Open Circuit

    P161D/005661 - Glowplug for Cylinder 4 (Q13): Open Circuit

Garage wants to change all the glow plugs but my thoughts (with limited car knowledge) is its something to so with the throttle position sensor and thats causing the plugs to throw up the fault??

    Any advice much appreciated.

It needs glow plugs anyway, fix the other issue and the light will still come back on. The throttle pedal acting up is very common at this time of year as the sender is under the pedal and gets wet, daft design.

Thanks crasher, what symptoms would bad glow plugs cause, is that what is causing the loss of power rather than the sender?

The glow plugs could cause starting problems and will raise the tailpipe emissions as they are used as part of the combustion process, the pedal will cause limp mode.
