    Hi all,

I'm on the lookout for a 7 seater vehicle and have been eyeing up a 2014 Seat Alhambra at a local dealership. It's priced at about £12.5k and it's done around 65k miles. As far as we can see from the service history, it hasn't had a recent cam belt change so that would need doing ASAP. With that in mind, is it worth buying? What's the life expectancy of an Alhambra?

£12.5k is the absolute maximum I can spend on a car so I know I'm not going to be able to get something brand new or even particularly recent but I also don't want to blow everything I've got on a car that is only likely to last a couple more years.

I know a lot of different factors will affect the answer but, assuming the car has been well looked after (which it appears to have been), could I hope to get another 10 years out of it or is that being a bit hopeful?!

Prices have come down this year. I would suggest a ea288 euro6 engine rather than one with the ea189 dieselgate issues . If you go for a low spec ie without roof rails yous should be able to find something from a private seller that fits your budget. euro5 had 140 bhp BUT EURO 6 is 150bhp. you can also check DieselGate - EA-189 & BlueEFFICIENCY | UK Vehicle Data to see if it's the older or newer engine. The older euro 5 will come up with details as to whether it was affected by diesel-gate claim.
