Hey all, I have inherited my dad’s A6 avant. It’s throwing up some fault codes, they are :P1654, P1653, U1007, P1573, and P1018. I know one of them is inlet manifold, do I need to replace it or can I clean/service it? Thanks gang

That is a 2008 model with the BPP 2.7 V6 TDI. P1654 will be in a controller such as the transmission and indicates a fault in the engine management system which is affecting its operation. P1653 is similar indicating a fault in the ABS which could be referring to the same problem. U1007 is again referring to a fault in another module, this time the battery monitoring unit. P1573 is a failed left engine mount.

17426 (P1018) - Intake Manifold Runner (Bank 2): Lower Limit not reached

This is a standard problem on this engine and means a new left bank manifold although there are bodges around it which we won’t employ.

All the other faults could just point to the manifold issue.

that’s brilliant, thank you for that. I guess at a minimum I’m looking to get a new engine mount and replace the intake manifold, best practise would be to replace both intakes I’d imagine?

They will be replacing only the motors which often does not work and you end up buying the complete units anyway and then putting the new none returnable motors on fleaBay, there are always a few on there so some inexperienced person to try.
