    Hi,
I've searched the forums for an answer so excuse me it's been answered and I have missed it.
2018 Q7 - sat nav just started showing completely the wrong location and looks like it's not picking up any satellites for the past couple of weeks. So I suspect the shark fin GPS antenna. I've seen that people can replace it with a in cabin GPS antenna. My question is where is the antenna connected to? I assume the MMI but where is it and how do I connect a new antenna and cable. Thank you in advance!

All dry under the antenna inside the roof. No sign of loose cables. Disconnected the battery for a few minutes and still showing the same incorrect location. Any further suggestions greatly received!

The battery disconnect needs to be more than a few minutes to allow any residual voltage to dissipate. I would leave it at least 20 minutes, I have heard some people flash the lights hit the horn to speed it up, but I am not a fan of that as it would cause rush of current.

Thanks Stewart. Disconnected for 40 mins and still not picking up any GPS signal.
Date and Time I can’t set to auto also as says GPS is unavailable.
Is there anyway I can plug a cheap antenna in to check? Any information on where the connection is would be great. Thank you!

I had two similar problems in my previous A6/4G.

First the shark tail antenna failed, and the next time it's cable connection failed. After the changes, everything was fine. It wasn't an easy replacement either, but luckily it wasn't the worst or the most expensive either

Fixed. For anyone else ever having the problem.
Disconnected shark fin blue GPS lead at the rear of the car in the headlining. Remove top rear most trim panel for access. Connected a male to male pigtail lead (£7 on Amazon) and plugged in a £9 GPS antenna (Amazon). Left the new antenna in the head lining 3M taped to the roof. Works just fine!

I was also able to fix the issue by replacing the original antenna with a cheap antenna that I placed on top of the dashboard.
    The processa was quite simple:
    - Remove glove box
    - Detach the MMI main unit
    - Detach original antenna connection from the main unit
    - Attach the new antenna connection
    - Draw the cable behind the panels up to the dashboard
    - Reinstall main unit and glove box.

Total cost: 19,20€, work time about 1,5h.
The Audi workshop here in Finland estimated that the cost for changing the original antenna would be somewhere around 2K€ !
