    Hi,

This has just started happening this week, and seems odd.

With the car cold and just started, when I lift the clutch pedal to move off, there is a significant judder as the clutch takes up.

There are no other problems, and it doesn't happen again during the day, just that one first start on my driveway when cold. I've tried the old test of putting the car into a high gear and accelerating hard, but there's no slip then, its all fine.

    Advice appreciated!

    cold or damp?
if its damp, i would say you have a year or 2 left on your clutch.

Possibly not related but i had an issue with an A4 i had where when taking off there was a bad judder in first, it turned out to be the gearbox was coming loose... i guess the clutch plate wasnt reaching the flywheel or something like that.

Yes, it was damp. I'm in the west of Scotland. It didn't do it this lunchtime when I started it from cold, and it's a dry sunny day today.

Car has done 52k miles, although I don't know how the original owner treated it (first 30k miles).

Maybe unrelated, I had this with an A4, and it turned out that when I used BP fuel, it disappeared.

OK thanks, I'll bear that in mind - it normally lives on Shell Super unleaded 99 / E5, but it recently had to suffer the indignity of a tank of normal Tesco 95 / E10 fuel, so maybe that is a factor as you say.
