A MK1 TT power hood, it does not lower by power (silence) and can be lowered manually. It does raise by power. The car came like this so I do not know if it has been got at to make it lower manually or that is usual on a MK!, only had coupe before ;0)
    Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

It is a very simple system but you need to know what is stored in the controller.

Thanks, guessing that means a scan.....will try mine but reckon it will need to be Audi Vagcom/similar.
Everything works except roof down...not a peep/click or anything. The dash light works, it raises perfectly and clips down light going out on dash.
Is it normal being able to gently lower the roof by hand on a MK1...never had a roadster. Or is that part of the problem? hydraulic resistance is felt as it is gently lowered.
    Are there any relays?
Also the switch...is there any wiring diagram available to check it works on the up position.

It will probaly be a position switch giving an incorrect value, does the dash warning come on when you try it?

Hi Crasher, we have spoken and you have helped me with various VAG cars over many years...thanks! I got the new toy back this morning and will look further. I have no books....so asking, is there just the one hood light on dash? if so it seems ok. It is out when roof clipped shut, unclip it and the light comes on......that is before the lower button is tried. So I think the hood control knows it is unclipped and ready to go down.
    Cheers and thanks again.

sorted, cleaned everything and cleared a load of codes with my scanner. Solved many warning lights and strange things since it sat with a dead battery! Roof all good now. One other slight issue...see new post
