    Hi everyone.
So the car I have is a 2010 (60 plate) A6, 3.0tdi, Quattro, automatic, with dpf and egr delete.

The past few weeks I've had intermittent issues with the car not starting.
The glow plug light would come on and start flashing and the traction control light would come up. And a error on the cluster saying stability system fault.

So after a few key cycles it would fix it self and start. But it finally stopped starting.

Had that AA come out but with no luck on finding a garage that would be able to look at the ECU related fault till next month it got taken home.

I have been searching for anything that might help and have come across some things linking to the J317 relay needing changed.
Looking for that I have seen that it's been changed for a Hella on for a merc.
I have gotten a similar one and put it in and got the same error and a no start.

I am at a loss right now
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The only other fault I'm getting iIMG_20230404_110435.jpgIMG_20230404_110435.jpgs under transmission module, for accelator pedal position sensor.

    I'm using obdeleven on android.

the cable tie seems to be put in by who ever was in there previously to hold the relay in place, Under the relay the wires are connected to it via female spade connectors, they seem fine but not been able to check they all have power going to them, mostly because i have no idea what they should output.

I got the same relay and moved each wire over as it was on that one, but still got the same error, that would come back if I clear it.

This is the other code that comes up.

If it helps Ive had the car start at times before when its happened at random, so ive been randomly trying to start it every now and then, but this time... nothing.

But as for now im at a loss as i cant find any details of where i should be looking for the error now.
I have checked the throttle output on the OBDeleven app to see if it changed when i press the pedal, and it reads out fine from 0 to 100%

the wires should be fixed in place - something sounds a bit off.
get the schematics and confirm the colors of the wires and where they go the relay should have a diagram on it with numbered connections

And I would get the correct relay from Audi - at the time i got mine it was cheaper there than on line.

have you tried starting the car with a little bit of throttle? it may read ok through the travel but at rest not give a signal? I may be putting 2 and 2 together here to get 22?!?!

I'm not used to Audi's at all, but with it not starting and the sensor ref voltage fault I'd go after a wiring issue. Some of the engine sensors share a 5v power circuit, and there may be a couple of these 5v circuits powering different sensors. So if a 5v power rail is down a cluster of sensors will be not be working.

After starting did it ever stall/cut out due to this fault?

No, once it started, it was fine, pulled threw the revs and clean idil.
A few times it started after shaking about connections under the relay/fuse box at the driver's side. Never got round to getting it ohh as would need to remove the wiper arm.

This would suggest the wiring in the engine bay is ok. So when not starting it cranks over fine?

If yes..you have a scan tool available you can't watch various sensor outputs to see which are not quiet right, otherwise next time the fault is present you can wiggle one wire at a time in an effort to pin point the offending connection.
Sometimes wiggling wires leads to a momentary disconnection which can reset a module.

Yeah cranks over fine, till the bettery dies, still got the error at the moment. I'll hopefully get a chance to get the wiper arm off and test(wiggle some wires). Will update once I get any changes!
