I have just purchased a 2015 Golf SV GT 2.0 TDI it has 61000 miles and I have read the cam belt needs replacing on VW's every 50 miles or every 10 years?. so my question is how much can I expect to pay for belt and water pump to be replaced as seller took of £250 towards getting this done so keen to get it done?. had 1 x quote of over 700 which I appreciate its the labour that is the biggest part of the charge but would appreciate some advice?. Im on the south coast in Folkestone in Kent.

VW UK recommend every five years for the belt. I paid about £550 from a local independent last time. Your experience may differ.

VW UK recommend every 5 years - my cambelt was replaced at 5 years, March 2020, by local VW specialist (not main dealer) for £398. Local VW dealer quoted £499. Mileage was only 19500 at that point and I wasn't advised to have the pump done at the same time.

The pump on yours is at the other end of the engine driven by its own belt.
