    Hi,
So finally got car mot'd and on the road. Its a 2005 3.0 TDi quattro s-line automatic. When I bought it, it had an issue where it would drive fine, then all of a sudden feel like it was in neutral, revs would shoot up to redline, you would have to lift off and eventually it would engage again but would shift past 3rd gear until you turned engine off. Because it had no mot decided to get that done first. Picked it up earlier, took it for a drive, did as it was before drove fine for a bit using all 6 gears, then it did its usual rev with no gear engaged then stuck at not being able to get past 3rd.
But....when I turned into my road all of a sudden there was a massive clunk and now there is no drive at all. Any ideas where to start? Is it a gearbox off to see job?

Can select PNRDS fine just when you press accelerator pedal nothing happens other than car revs go up. When using Tiptronic or Manual mode you cannot change up gears. Any advice appreciated as don't want to spend loads of it if it is something simple.

    TIA

Here are some VCDS measuring block images, not sure if the will help

I agree, the likely costs to fix will in parts alone would be double the cars value… mind you, that’s never stopped me in the past; I have a 2003 Octavia L&K on the middle lift and £1500 of engine bits on the bench waiting to be built into a recon block.
