    Just a quick update
I manage to update software in my gearbox from 006 straight to latest 009. I've used Odis E. with Vas5054a took less than 2 minutes. So far I've noticed that gear changes are smoother. Need to test longer to see if that update will help me with my sporadic reverse gear issue.

I had this gearbox. I feel you. At 190k km it started giving me problems. Jerky 2-1, adaptation would help, but it would return to usual nehaviour after a while. Later developed into slipping clutch manifesting in 7th. Replaced the clutch, problems went away, but never had confidence in it, sold as is. It is a mammoth of a gearbox, very complex bit of kit.

No, the car was standard, and the gearbox was serviced every 50k with records, and on latest software. During one of oil changes, I spotted pieces of friction plates, then I knew this is the end of it. It was a Q5 though, a little heavier perhaps?
Audi quoted me 5k for the job, which, of course, I declined.

One thing I recall, is that when engine had problems resulting in torque reduction, gearbox would become very inconsistent - but it was merely reacting to torque reduction. So before attending the gearbox I knew I had to make sure the engine runs fault free.

    Here's another update
So the software update didn't fix my reversing problem. So the next step was to replace circuit boards with solenoids ( 0b5398048d ) on the mechatronic unit also fresh ATF, internal and external filters. Took me all day on my driveway but looks like it's fix now.
Oil I drain was really dark and smelly also filter was made in 2012 so I don't know what to think about oil changes at dealership.

marciolo I need to do the exact same update as you - 006 to 009 Using Odis E and VAS5054.

Just waiting on VAS5054 and then I need to source the update file.

Can I ask please, was this easy to do? And can you share the instructions/steps you performed.

    Thanks

    Hi
the whole process of updating the software is fairly easy, but if something goes wrong it will be expensive to fix !
Make sure you're using good quality Vas5054 unit,
    Updating via USB cable,
Connect trickle charger to the car before you start updating
In Odis E. Click flash then pick transmission Control, locate the correct flash file on your laptop for your TCU and hit flash if I remember correctly. You will get all kinds of warnings on your dashboard during update (don't panic it's normal) all process takes around 3-4 minutes to complete. At the end you will have to turn ignition off then back on again. Odis will take you step by step and guide you what to do.

Ps. The latest software in my gearbox prevents clutches from overheating max temp. they can rich is now around 120 Celsius, before update they were reaching 160 Celsius.

There is this TPI but you have a specific code, there are numerous 0B5 TPI's for all sorts of errors (the 0B5 is a piece of junk) but none that I can see cover P204A.

Try to reproduce the customer complaint so that it can be clearly assigned to this TPI.
