How or Where to get my A7 HUD mirror refinished?

Hello Audiforum! What a community!
I'm reaching out because i own a 2012 A7 and my HUD mirror has begun to flake. Rather then let Audi rob me ( said it cost 5k for the unit - plus we had to take the windshield off ) I came on here and found the information to get it done myself for 2 hours work and a 20.00 tx20 tool from Amazon. So Thank you!
My question is "Where can i get this piece "remirrored" or "resilvered." I'm based in Canada but can ship to anywhere if need be. I went to my local tint shops and most said because the piece is not glass they are worried about it sticking to plastic.
SO - "What exactly is the film or finish? - so i can do it myself" OR
"Where can i ship this piece to in order to get it redone?"

It shouldn't be too hard to find someone to do the recoating. Here's an example of two people separately getting it done: HUD Repair.

"Vacuum ..." or "thin film coating" are probably the search terms to find someone local.

I'm not familiar with the overall construction, but would also wonder if a bit of mirror cut at a glazing supplier would work. Audi may avoid glass for a few reasons, but it may be equivalent optically.

Use with caution in case it affects the underlying plastic, but to possibly help with prep...

To remove unwanted paint from plastic aircraft models (Airfix in UK, Revell in USA, etc) a reasonable strength solution of Dettol disinfectant is a popular choice.

Okay Canada sucks. I've called so many places and no one will do it. Can anyone recommend me a place ( US or Europe is fine ) that has done it before? At this point im not opposed to send it to overseas because it's still cheaper than replacing the entire unit.

Have you tried Motson Graphics Inc in PA, USA? In their business description, they mention thin film coating with

"adhesion to mica, glass, coated materials, thin film, plastics and metals". I haven't ever used them, but if they can coat your plastic mirror, the shipping might not be too bad from Canada?

What about any local body shops etc that can do the spray on chrome paint? Would that not be an option?

Chroming maybe an option but I would rather go with a place that has done it before as a solution. An acutual mirror would also be an option but the plastic piece is slighting curved which is why im thinking audi used it in the first place. I'm going to reach out to Moston Graphics as see what the say. I'll keep everyone updated.
