Air con not getting cold, it does appear to drain on the outside. I have booked it in for a service at My local VW dealer. We've not had much if any rain locally today & yet after drying my front passenger floor this morning, it is once again damp ! In the 18 months that I have had the car I haven't had to put any coolant in. I have gone over all the common points of water ingress. Has anyone got any thoughts on what else to do ?

I think that the underlay in the car is still slightly damp & the heat from the plastic heating duct is causing some condensation to build up in the floor. The only thing that I can think of is to possibly remove the underlay & either replace it or leave it dry out completely 🤔 ? Does anyone have any thoughts on this ? I'm quite sure that no water is leaking in, but will probably try some leak detection fluid. The car is a great drive, but this issue is annoying.

If you are able to park the car off the road you could try leaving a dehumidifier or carpet snail running in the car to help dry the carpet sound deadening out

I have tried using a small dehumidifier for a short time, but nothing is being drawn out of the carpet/underlay. Maybe try a dehumidifier overnight ? Or it's getting to the point where I remove it & dry on the radiator. It seems whenever I use a fan heater to dry the underlay out & then leave it cool down naturally that whatever moisture is left in the underlay. Once I drive it & heating is on, then it seems to "sweat" & I get condensation. I'm 99.99 % positive that it isn't leaking any water now !

Yes at least overnight. May take several sessions to get it clear. If you have a wet vacuum try and use that to suck out as much water as possible

cheers for the advice, as I don't have a big dehumidifier I'm going to try a bowl of baking soda & put some fans in the car to help. I will update in a few days hopefully 👍

just a little update. With all the heavy rain lately, there has been no water ingress into the car. I have washed it once & checked under the carpets & all appears to be dry. In my opinion the original problem was the rear speaker seals, I have replaced the speakers, but will probably run a bead of sealant around them as a precaution. As I have heard that even the mk8 golf has rear speaker issues. I used a dehumidifier & fans to dry what dampness was left after I pulled as much water as possible out of the car ! It's shocking though to hear of mk8 golf's having similar issues !

Yes, they still leak. Wait until some salty water finds its way into the electrics of an high voltage VAG product... smokin!
