Coolant temperature sensor comes up with a code on a diagnostic reading to high decided to replace but not to sure what to change it for...i took it of to see if it had a part number it didnt... looked on the net to find a replacment i have a green 4 stud one but i could only find a blue one that looks the same all the green ones are round and look diferent .

Does colour matter?? or is it just shape??

Up to the middle of 99 it was 059 959 501 (blue) with a wire clip on a square plug and then it was 059 919 501 A (green) with a D shaped all plastic plug and the silly little awkward to release clip. Pop into your local GSF or Euro or even VAG dealer (any will do, VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda) and they will have lots on the shelf.

Thank you very much for the info. Rang up the local vw and they had one on the shelf so i went and got it replaced it seems to have sorted the problem, still need to do another diagnostic to see if it has sorted the problem for sure. Only one thing it is a little bit pricey for such a small part. £31 inc VAT.
