    Hi,

I am new to this site as I have just got a mk5 golf 2.0 diesel

It has the ABS and traction control lights on. I have plugged in my diagnostics but nothing comes up, only faults for glow plugs which I will check tomorrow.

my diagnostics is only a cheap scanner so may not pick it up ???

Are there any common faults with ABS / Traction control

    Thanks

    Nick

faulty wheel speed sensors can cause this problem.are you a competent diy person to tackle this job ?
its not that difficult to repair but first you need a proper scan to detect which sensor is bad.maybe your scanner is
a very basic one which does not come up with the goods

I had the same problem and it was a faulty wheel speed sensor. However, this had been caused by a failed wheel bearing, so check the bearing before replacing a faulty sensor.

If the ESP light is on as well as the ABS, a common fault is the G201 pressure sensor inside the pump, there is an official repair kit for the problem.
