diesel leak

Hi
My 02 audi a4 tdi (130) leaks diesel and i cant find wat is causing this. The drops are coming from somewhere near the top of the engine bay. Worse i can also smell diesel when driving. Any idea guyz, on wat it cud be?

Did you use your phone to type that?

The fuel injection system on your car operates at a very high pressure so it could be a leaking injector. Also it could be the connections on the fuel filter. There isn't any real answer without checking it. Remove the engine cover, 3x nuts under 3 caps. Then on the right hand side of the engine you will find the fuel filter, check this and also see if you can see damp patches that smell of diesel.

Thanks Dave, but it seems to be coming from the top of the engine bay (see Pic attachment,Blue circle). Local garage told me it mite be the tandem pump, God knowz wat that is?

It could be as its in that area. Check the pipe connection.

The pump is located right at the back of the engine, circled in red under the boost pipe - obviously the engine cover has been removed at this point.

All the pipes seem fine, today i got told its the seal which goes behind the vacuum pump (blue seal). So im gona order it from the dealer and see if that sorts it out. Wat do u think?
