Hello everyone . My first post with a question . I have an Audi A6 2009 2.0 Tdi Se. I have warning lights on the dash regarding the rear lights left turn indicator , brake light, running light . There is a crack in the rear (wing mounted) lens which appears to have let some moisture into the unit . These faults regarding the indicator brake bulb in the main lamp housing in the wing are intermittent. Do I need to replace the lens unit I have read that this looks like a common problem. Also It looks like I have a nearside issue in the Boot lid mounted lamps . I can't see anyway of removing the boot lid internal trim to access the back of the lens units . Do I need a special pry tool to get the trim off, any ideas?. I have seen hinged flaps on some A6 cars for this purpose but not on mine. I appreciate any help out there . thanks ..

Welcome. I have moved your thread to the correct section - welcome section is to introduce yourself. Hopefully you will get some answers. Try searching boot trim removal as this has been asked a few times.
Faults can also come on intermittently if the incorrect bulb has been fitted or if the bulb is on its way out. These models are well known for leaking rear light clusters!
    Good luck

Your car is 2009 and it is facelift model. It means that you have led lamps and some are normal bulb. Facelift models do not have problems with cracks (that was only on 2004/2005 models). As you have errors of few lights it indicates power issue. Check if power is arriving and all contacts are clean from rust/oxidation.

Remove the rear lamp unit and check the plug and socket for heat damage to the earth pin, this is a very common issue on the A6 and TT2 when the unit has incandescent bulbs and appears to predominantly affect automatic models and if you think about it, it is obvious why this happens but not why just on the left?

Hello , there is a 13 mmm retaining nut which I removed thinking that the lens assembly could be coaxed forward so I can get to the connector . Other than brute force is there anything (like another lock nut that I'm missing) Just worried if I try too hard Ill break something

it also pops into a ball joint type socket, take a look on 7zap this will give you an idea of where and how to apply force.

Garage reckons I need a complete new bulb holder quoting £240 fitted . I checked the 7zap website but I can't find the detail to which you are referring . I would like to take a look myself before I embark on spending serious money on what might be an easy fix . Could you post a link on where I can find the detail of the ball and socket joint. I would appreciate it . Cheers
