Bought some front coil springs as I’m sure the ones on there not the correct ones as the car is lower ,but these kyb front springs have 2 different sizes at each end 81mm and 84 mm. I did phone up but they weren’t 100% but did say 81mm opening goes into the spring mount does anyone one for sure thanks

I have one on the ramp at the moment which would use a KYB RH3553, and it is 81-mm up and that has been a constant measurement for a long time on many VAG springs. I think you would find the 81-mm would not locate in the damper cup.

I would say so but we do LOTS of Golf 5/6 front springs and with Suplex or genuine it is self evident which way around as they will not sit correctly otherwise so we never pay attention to the actual measurements and the VAG manual does not elaborate.

The car drives great again the springs is bought from eBay what aloud of rubbish apparently company calls cd springs basically from China ,but the shock absorbers they were such a pain to go into the hub originally even with the correct opening tool and when I measured them again it measured 51mm not the 50mm or less it should of been so I replaced them to ,would it cause stress on the hub being just 1mm over just hoping to get my money back as they weren’t correct size

Typical **** aftermarket components which is why I stick to the OE supplier Sachs/Boge and Suplex springs, never give me grief. Just had a pair of Sachs rear dampers for mother of Crasher's 6R Polo to do this week.

do you think that it being 1mm bigger could of put stress on the hub I mean it was a pain to go in originally the gap was like 1/2 inch where the bolt went through

Roughly 13mm sounds a scary amount, I am surprised the bolt hole centre line alignment didn't mean you had to hammer the bolt in! It is a cast iron hub on those so I wouldn’t worry too much, the ally hub version would worry me.
