    Hi guys,

So my A6 C7 Avant 3.0L (2016) is telling me it needs an oil service in 20 days, ok that should be simple. The complication arises because when I bought the car last year, it was 15 months old, 17000 miles on the clock on the Variable service schedule. I like to look after my cars and change oil regularly, so booked it into a service with the local Audi dealer, asking for a service. The Audi agent said although the car isn't asking for a service yet, it will need an Interim service. I booked it in and also asked them to switch over to Fixed Service schedule as I do less than 10k a year. That's all good and done.

So my car 12 months down the line (now 26,000 miles) is now asking for an oil change service, as expected. Initially Audi wanted me to book another Interim service, I explained the history and they then agreed that although this was unusual as the car would normally have an interim now as it's two years old, it only needed an oil service now. Is this literally an oil change, or some form of lower level interim service? Everywhere I read they state oil/interim service, so are they the same?

Another query, the MMI is showing oil service due in 20 days, inspection service due in 385 days. The inspection service that is due in 385 days, how do I found out if that will be a Major or Interim service?

Any thoughts or references where I can gather this information?

    cheers

Variable servicing is about 18k or 2 years whichever is first
Fixed servicing is every 9k or 1 year. 9k is the interim which is just an oil change then 18k is the inspection which is all the filters and air con(if you ask for it) and sunroof.
Cause you changed it half way through the dealer is probably a bit confused.

Thanks. From the various sources that I've been reading I've come to the conclusion that when running a fixed service interval, the 9k service is just an oil service (with a few additional checks thrown in, aka interim service!) and the 18k/2yr service is the inspection service, which is a major service.

I'm happy to be corrected on this :-)

Hi. To make it simple, at 18k or 2 years old 1st service which is interim, then at 36k or 4 years a Major. Repeat every 18k or 2 years whichever sooner. If for your own peace of mind you have the oil changed at every 9k or 1 year that is fine. On top of this there are other items that will need a service at other intervals dependent on which item it is.

Optional stuff is air con and sunroof service.
I would do both if your car is coming towards the end of warranty just in case one of those goes wrong.
It seems common that the sunroof seal is a bit crap and expensive to replace.

Thanks for the heads up, but fortunately I don't have a sunroof to worry about :-)
