Need to look into that a bit more. Who did the tune. Only seem to find the tcu tune for the s6 and not A6. I assume it’s the same box.

I've used Shark Performance in the past. Used to be a site sponsor...may still be. Travelled to Mansfield to get my A4 B7 remapped and ran the map for almost 4 trouble free years. Then sold the car.

Shark now have a Scottish outlet in Lanark. Brotek. I've not used Brotek but have spoken to Mark who runs it. Seems a good bloke and knows what he's talking about. Has a good reputation on the Facebook groups.

If I was getting a map, I'd have no heistation in using Shark and Brotek.

There was a member here not that long ago that had gearbox issues after purchasing a car that was mapped. In the end he got his refund.
The box is an expensive item to repair and only a handful of specialists that can repair them.
But there’s companies like superchips and Celtic tuning that offers a warranty if the remap breaks your car.
I suppose it all depends on how aggressive the map is. If all the power/torque comes in early then then the gearbox is gonna take a beating.
I know some folk who have had remaps on their cars for years and don’t have any problems.
The DL501 gearbox has been known to take up to 730nm. OK there may be some slip between gear change but the box is not as bad made out.

It’s good to know the box won’t break but as you said clutch slipping can’t be good for the plates.
How much does it cost to replace the clutch plates? Has anyone actually done one before?

Are you a worrier and do you have mechanical sympathies? Last May I sold my Boxster 987.1. Only 39k on the clock and cherished. Serviced on the dot every year in perfect condition. Why did I sell it? Every time I took it out and revved it to 7000 rpm a little voice in the back of my head said ‘don’t forget the IMS bearing’. If that goes bang it’s a new engine and a £10k bill.

I had a Merc CLS before the Audi and used to get it serviced by an authorised Star Partner. I was talking to the owner one day about chipping and he said if you want more power, get a bigger engine. Having said that I did fit a Brabus box to it but then, Merc fitted Brabus boxes to to the run out series 1 Cls from new and gave it a full warranty.

    If you’re a worrier, don’t do it.
