That's just plain wrong, they cannot say the retrofit solution is £250 then say you need to add almost double that for labour.

Spoke to my dealer a while back about this and said its just an activation. No extra labour involved.
Software is already in the mib(2017 onwards) systems so it's just turning it on as far as I know.

I've got it on android auto and it's alright. I was expecting more. It's ok, Spotify is ok to use providing you've set up playlists (if you want to play something specific, like the Moana album over and over and over and over....) but not great for searching.

My biggest annoyance is that you have to plug your phone in. I never remember to do it when I first get in the car so have to fiddle about if I want to use Waze or something. I've just started using Waze since it got added to android auto and that's pretty good nav wise but the functionality is limited.

Would I spec it again... probably, as it was only £250. But it could have been much much better.

I am under the impression that the Apple interface is already built in to the high end MMI Sat Nav and that its just a software activation/license that is necessary to be done at the dealership to make it "appear" in the screen.

It is just an activation, but needs doing through the Audi servers - which means a tech's labour. I was quoted about £230 for this labour for 1.5 hours work. Someomne on the Q7 forum got it done and he said 30 mins and paid about £90, which is more realistic.

I can see it greyed out in the MMI menu. The ASI retrofit is just a piece of paper with a code on it and Audi charge £264 for it. Then the labour to activate.

IMHO the functionality of Android Auto is very limited and clunky, it provides very little over what is already in the MMI. I am hoping it will improve over time.

Audi will only code this to 2017 cars not the older ones. These guys will do some of the earlier ones.
