    Hello,

I have the Audi Connect subscription running for google maps etc, but I understand this will run out in 3 months, and you cant use the data for wifi hotspot in the car (correct me if I'm wrong).

I also have a ee data sim that I used to use in the ee mifi wireless dongle which would connect with 4g no problems.

The data sim from audi showed LTE so I'm assuming that it's running at 4g. I've since added my own sim into the car and I understand that the data will now be used from the ee sim and SOS from the in built audi one.

At this point I've enabled the wifi in the car, connected up my phone and ran a quick speed test. The test reveiled 3g type speeds which then led me to check the MMI, sure enough it shows 3g.

Now I know that there is 4g where I am as I can get it via the mifi dongle, so my query is, any ideas as to why 'LTE' would not be showing on the mmi like the in built sim?

Which sim's are others using? Are they just data, or data and voice?

Your help and input will be greatly appreciated, thanks

I think it's 3 yrs. according to Audi website and that's was I was told by my dealer as well.

I don't have any SIM yet but thinking of having one from 3, as it's better priced to me.

All I can say is I just so impatient... and sorry

I've just been back to the car as I had to take the OBDeleven out, and I thought 'it's quite dark now, lets start up and check out the ambient lighting (I have mine set to impulse red)'

I started to mess about with the brightness and other colours to see what they were like... as I exited out back to nav, there it was in all it's glory... LTE!!!

Guess it either took a bit of time for the setting to filter through or the car / mmi needed a restart.

Either way, thank you all, it's now working

I think when I've done speedtests from a phone connected to the cars wifi, the speed isn't that great. I have EE sim in both the iphone and the car MMI so you would expect speedtests to come out similar but seems the car is a bit of a bottleneck. Not that you'd notice though, kids can stream etc, just doesn't get the full bandwidth you can get in some areas.

Awesome, thank you, my ultimate aim is to get somesort of video interface fitted to allow HDMI input, then hook up a apple tv to it. This will allow me to airplay video from the iPhone. I have plex so it primarily serves VoD (video on demand) but I also have it linked to iptv so it doubles up as a tv too.

I used to have a similar setup in my a6 c7, the mmi had video aux in so mitigated the need for a video interface, but I had to down convert the hdmi to rca (1080 to 576).

Thus comes in the car wifi as the atv and iPhone will link to this and is also needed to stream the video content.

I have one for my Mini Cooper S (2003) which is much older system and it works great on there! I've never had any problems, the only tricky part for the mini was that I had to take out the seat to get to where I needed to plug it in....works flawlessly otherwise though!

They are UK based so if anything is up, I can get hold of them without issue, also there isn't much in price difference after the postage, tax and duty I'll pay on the delivery and import to uk.
