    Hi all

I have just been informed that my car has been recalled to fix a problem with the plenum chamber?

Anyone know anything about this recall?

A bit late, we have been dealing with the problem for at least seven years.

I thought it was a bit late as the car is nearly 6 years old!

What are the problems with this thing?

I have to wonder why it wasn't done last October when serviced by an Audi main dealer?

The plenum chamber drains under the battery and servo get blocked with leaves and the chamber fills with water, literally gallons of the stuff. This then pours into the heater intake and the inside of the car, causing problems with the central convenience (central locking) system. I think it has become a recall issue as we have seen a number of Passat’s, A4's and A6's suffer from servo failure where the left front brake starts to bind. This is because the servo is sitting in water and although it is supposed to be air tight, it draws in a tiny amount of air around the seems. Obviously if it is sitting in a bath of water, it will draw the water in and this corrodes the internals of the servo, causing brake bind and odd pedal reactions so it then becomes a safety issue.

    Right - got it.

I was aware of this problem, just didn't know it was called a plenum chamber?

Get up in the morning and find the car unlocked and all of the windows down in the rain

Central locking system not talking to computer, strange warning lights coming on and off including yellow engine light, and ESP light, etc
I also wasn't aware that it had been recalled to fix it.

Anyone else getting strange occurences might be advised to contact their local main dealer and ask if their car has been sorted. Mine is going in next week for repair - free of charge.

Mines a 51 plate 2.7T and I have just been asked to bring it in, so worth a phone call I would say.

Thanks Buster,Phoned up Carlisle Audi and sure enough mines due for the recall even though its out of warranty
Its booked in Monday morning and gets a free valet thrown in
This is my first Audi and Ive got to say I was surprised by the good attitude of the dealer even though I will service it elsewhere.
There were no other outstanding recalls against my car.
Hopefully this will stop the car having an electrical wobbler like some other appear to have suffered.
    cheers Steve

After heavy rain, I found my passenger foot well had water in it today. I wondered what the strange gushing noise was when I went round corners!!

I will ring Audi to see if my 2001 S6 is due for a recall, but in the meantime, can I improve the situation by removing the battery and clearing the blockage myself?

    Or isn't it that easy?

    Cheers - Alex.

My A4 2.8 did this once, so I lifted the battery and scooped out a handful of leaves to allow the water to drain away. The hole for drainage on that car had a rubber insert which needed freing aswell.

Be careful removing the battery as you will lose your radio coding and many other things.
