    Hi everyone,

this is my first post here at this great community for Audi owners.

I've recently bought a 1998 Audi A6 C5 2.4 AGA, and the car has some issues. I will start off with perhaps a simple one for any Audi savvy person.

The car is hard to start, especially in the morning. Every morning I have to make 3-4 attempts before it starts.
Even when I park the car for just ten minutes after driving, I need two attempts before it starts. Allways two. Weird.

I've allready replaced the coolant temperature sensor, but it didn't do the trick. Still hard to start.
I read something about that this can be the camshaft positioner sensor? Or, maybe not.

    Suggestions anyone?

    J

There are two drain plugs in the plenum chamber the one under the battery and one directly under the brake servo. Did the oil light go out at all. do not like the sound of that. Regards Peter

    Hello Peter, thanks for answering.
Sorry for my absence. It's been pouring down outside several days now and I don't have a garage.

I've checked the plenum chamber and it was dry with very little dust/dirt. I suspect it was the possibility of clogged drain plugs and flooding that was your concern (?). The oil light goes out, as do the other lights.

I failed to mention that the problem happened over night. One day it was fine, and the other day out of the blue it was suddenly hard to start.
At that point the car did have a major oil leak that was the camshaft chain tensioner gasket on the right side, so I had the local Audi dealer change all gaskets. The mechanic told me that the spark plugs were soaked in oil, but he had cleaned them and said they were fine. I'm not entirely convinced about that.

Does this make things a bit easier to figure out?
