So I had a daytime running light die which I'm told by Audi requires a full headlight change as it's a sealed unit. Part price for headlight £798 which I don't worry too much about because the parts guy is convinced as it's a full headlight swap it'll be covered on the full electrical and mechanical warranty that came with buying the car. Anyway car goes in and warranty cover declined, I believe because the warranty dept are putting it down as a bulb which isn't covered, which is basically a cop out as far as I'm concerned. Anyone else had a headlight swap for running light out and have the same outcome regarding warranties?

I would fight that, if you cant replace the bulb then saying bulbs arent covered by the warranty is illogical.

depends how the small print is worded. if it says bulbs are not covered, then they are not covered, surely ??

given the limitations its the headlight that has failed, you arent replacing the bulb, you are replacing the headlight

thats what it should be, but warranty companies are there to make money, not lose it, and if a bulb blown requires a new headlight, then they are probably quite glad they worded their small print so they dont have to pay out, or did they ???

It's a 13 plate with 35k on it and the 12 month Audi used approved warranty from when I purchased the car. Still ongoing at the moment as it's the weekend, the branch it's in with have ordered the new headlight and have requested another look at the claim to the warranty comp for me as they're in agreement that it's not actually a bulb change. Small print does say bulbs aren't covered which I can understand but I think they're using it as a get out to not cover it. I think they're classing it as item failed due to a non covered component failing. As stated by Audi when I first quieryed the need for a whole headlight change they said the daylight running light is an led strip incorporated into a sealed headlight unit so unless they're going to class the entire headlight as a bulb I think they're taking the ****. Was hoping someone might come along to confirm they'd had some success with there's. Anyway It's safe to say that if it does come back as a no again they'll be hearing quite a lot from me so will keep the thread updated.

totally unbelievable that anyone would be stupid enough to make a headlight where you have to replace it for a failed bulb. i wish you all the best with this claim and hope it works out in your favour. its all there though so that the car doesnt last that long, they dont want us driving about in old cars..
