Hi all... Was wondering if anybody has changed their exhaust tips!? I'm looking into doing just that but noticed a couple of weld spots annoyingly to keep them in place! The oem ones are around 90mm. And back box outlet will be around 85mm. So my question to anyone that has done this did you cut the original ones off or just use something to break the welds with a grinder or just brute force?

    Hi Aly,

My pre-facelift (albeit a 2.0 TDi with twin pipes on the left) had what appear to be the same finishers. On my car they were a push-fit. There were metal tangs inside which gripped onto the outside of the underlying exhaust pipe. A firm twist-and-pull action (wearing rubber gloves for extra purchase) was all that was needed to remove them. When they were off the car, there were a couple of dimples visible which could easily have been mistaken as weld spots if they were dirty...

Hoping yours are the same as mine were!

Edit: If you look at the image on this ebay page, you can see the metal tangs inside which hold them on. Might take some effort to remove them if they have been on there for a while, but you should be able to do it

    Cheers!

My B8 A4 2.0 tdi was exactly like this, I yanked off the manky ones and replaced them with eBay ones.

The C7 A6 is definitely more of a job!

If you do manage to get them off then a how to PLEASE!

If you’re replacing them because of the condition then try this first… it’s very, very good

    Hi Aly,

The link was just for illustration. The tips on my 2.0 C7 looked the same as those, and just pulled off. Looks like yours are different, sadly. Here's the best pic I have of the ones on that C7 (after the big rear-end shunt it got):

    Cheers!
