My wifes A3 2.0 tdi DSG is making some funny noises. When is neutral it makes clunking noises from the bellhousing,i gather this is the duel mass flywheel knackered!!
We live in paignton south devon and after somebody to fix this, any idea what this will cost? we have just shelled out £1100 for a new turbo and the Audi has 184k on the clock

If you could let me know what model/year the A3 is I will move the thread from the Chat section to the correct A3 section where you'll hopefully get the assistance you require.

Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.

We learned the hard way that when you pull the box out to do the flywheel that it makes sense to also fit a new clutch pack at the same time. Make sure the company who does the job is aware of the G28 sensor being behind the flywheel as this can get rubbed by a failing DMF and is an absolute sod to change with the box in, in fact it can turn into a box out nightmare on it own. I have even had a brand new LUK DMF fail.

Tomorrow I will look at the bill for one and see what it came to but I think it was the best part of £2.5k. You can get the flywheel from LUK but currently the clutch pack is genuine only. Today one of my chaps has taken the box out of a 2012 TTRS for a new flywheel and clutch and they are both genuine only at the moment. The TTRS bill will be insane, on top of the DMF/clutch there is a new Haldex unit and A/C compresser.... and solving an EVAP problem! And a full service with plugs and coil packs, five of them....

They make a 4B 2.7T Allroad look positively bargain motoring, and the thing has only done 46k in its 4 years of use....

The TTRS is a 2.5 5 cylinder high end performance car, a near super car for exec saloon money. They may be near affordable to buy but God help your bank balance running one. Magazines often run these 10, 20, 30k type "bargain" high performance car articles with rose tinted spectacle views on ownership but the truth is often far away from the real cost....
