Hello all, new to the forum and looking to get the Mrs a Golf mk6.
I've seen a lot of talk about 1.6tdi having egr issues. Does the 2.0tdi also have this issue?
She currently has a mk5 1.9tdi and would rather have another diesel but would the 1.4tsi be a better option?
I am looking to spend around the 5k mark.
She does a mixture of town and motorway miles.
    Any help is greatly appreciated

I have mk6 1.6tdi and the power and torque will suprise you for a 1.6tdi we have not had any issues with ours apart from a known issue with vw the the oil filler neck doesn't seal right and leacks oil into top of injectors but vw fixed thus under warranty even if you don't have warranty vw fix any oil leak upto 100,000 miles. And we also came from a mk5 to mk6 and the fuel economy in the 1.6 is best in range and if you go for a match you get more in the car than other models. Good luck finding the one yous want👍 and enjoy

    Thank you for the reply.
The 1.6tdi is the model she wants but we are having doubts due to the egr.
Can anyone comment about any issues with the 2.0tdi or 1.4tsi?
    Looking at getting a 59plate @ about 100k

All moden day diesel cars have egr and dpf fillters, so it not question if you will have issues it's when you will have a issue.
Only way be sure is have the removed and get the car remapped, and only then will get no problems.
