    Hi,

Local garage has diagnosed my 2005 A3 SE 2.0 TDi with a faulty throttle body. They recently replaced my leaking EGR valve, and soon after the engine management light came on, the error on the diagnostics showed the intake manifold valve had an issue (don't have the code#) and the associated fuse keeps blowing

They've quote 380 incl VAT for genuine Audi part, same price as from Audi direct

I can get Pierburg unit from Euro car parts for 170. (i could also get a siemens or VDO for similar price)

I don't have time/ability to fit myself, but the garage will fit if i supply. Its at 108k and I've recently replaced the turbo, brake servo and bunch of other bits so need to save money now

My question is are there any risks from supplying 3rd party unit? Or anything i need to check when ordering?

I understand Audi buy these in bulk from various manufacturers, and its possible theirs could be a Pierburg anyway. Audi have said there is a risk that a "non-audi" part may produce an error when coding it to CPU after installation. Is this true?

    Thanks for any help

I agree that Pierburg is fine. No coding needed, emissions light should disappear after a short distance. For anyone interested in DIY, see VW Audi Forum - The #1 VW Group Community
