    Hi all,

As promised, here is my write up of how to enable the CD ripping using the information from andyhud007 captured in the Q7 (4M) Coding thread - under Stickies

    Prerequisites
    1) Android device running version 4.1 or later (I ordered a Samsung SM-T560 running v4.4.4 for about £135 to use for this and running Kodi)
    2) OBDeleven Pro (https://obdeleven.com/ - €54.99 for the device and the license and shipped from Lithuania in 6 days for me)
    3) The Android device needs to have internet access whilst programming the car
    4) Install OBDeleven app from the Play Store:

    0.0 Play Store.jpg

The OBDeleven device arrives in a bag with the PRO activation code written on the outside

    0.1 - OBD Device.jpg

The port to plug it into is above the drivers pedals (not covered which surprised me!)

    0.2 - Car Port.jpg

Plug the OBDeleven device in and it should light up to show it's powered up

    0.3 - OBD Plugged in.jpg

You then need to go to the Bluetooth menu on the Android device and pair it to the OBDeleven using 1234 as the passcode

Start the OBDeleven app to get the following menu, select settings to enter the activation code for PRO

    1.1 - Menu.jpg

Move the slider across and you should be prompted to add the code on the bag

    1.2 - Activate.jpg

Once activated, go back to the home screen to connect

    2 - First screen not connected.jpg

    Click connect

    3 - Connecting.jpg

    Once connected, click Scan

    5 - Scanning.jpg

    6 - Scan Complete with errors.jpg

The errors are those registered by the car during use which from a bit of googling appear to be nothing to be concerned about - ignoring for this write-up

Click on the centre to open up the next Control Units screen

    7 - Main Control Units Screen.jpg

The next few posts are specific to enabling the CD ripping mod

I read somewhere that when doing modifications you should have the engine running but no consumers enabled - i assumed this to be no air con and anything else that shows up on the Virtual Cockpit consumers display. Not sure if this is an issue or just best practice.

Enabling CD Ripping using info from andyhud007's post in Q7 (4M) Coding

    Select Module (Control Unit) 5F

    8 - Select 5F Control Unit.jpg

    Select Coding

    9 - Select Coding.jpg

Select Long Coding by taping the number 1 in top right

    10 - Select Long Coding.jpg

Use the green icon to scroll to the right to Byte 24 (opens on Byte 00)

    11 - Scroll across to byte 24.jpg

Once on Byte 24, you can see Bit 5 (row) is not checked

    12 - Byte 24 - Bit 5 not selected.jpg

Check the tick box for Bit 5 so it's enabled and click the blue tick and the bottom to apply the change

    13 - Bit 5 selected and submit.jpg

You should now be back at the 5F Control Unit menu, this time select Adaptation

    14 - Select Adaptation.jpg

You will then get this search menu

    15 - Adaptation Search Menu.jpg

If you type "copy", it will narrow the options down to the one you want and select "copy multimedia data"

    16 - Search for Copy and select.jpg

Optical drive is set to off

    17 - Optical driver setting to select.jpg

Click on Optical drive to change this to "On" and then use the tick button to apply the change

18 - Switch on and ok then submit.jpg

You then just need to reboot the MMI and you're done - see "Q7 (4M) Coding" thread under Stickies for the how-to on this.

Hope this is useful to those about to do their first mod or those (like I was) considering whether or not to order one.

Ok also want to ask how do I enable the needle sweep? Module 17 is Dash board on OBD but in there I can't see anything re needle sweep?

However a lot of the options that say 'No' I actually have?
