SIM Card not registering in MMI

Guys,

Apologies but I can't find it but I recall one or two of you mentioned that sometimes the data connection from the SIM card you put in the glove box (not embedded sim) sometimes is 'lost' in the MMI. The signal bars etc don't show up on the screen etc or the SIM doesn't show in Connection Manager.

Mine has done it a few times recently and I've had to reboot MMI or switch car off / back on to get it back.

I recall some of you had similar problems and wondered if you dealer(s) had a fix for it or not?

Andy it fixed itself somehow...don't know how as there wasn't a software upgrade...

Just take sim out and reinsert that should work to get in back in the mean time

Are you using a sim adapter? I am and it has failed only twice but removing and replacing has always worked for me

Cheers Nemo. Yeah did exactly that and it came back. Admittedly doesn't do it much but annoying when it does as Google maps / online traffic / napster etc pack up.

Was hoping I could go to dealer and there might be a TPI for it. I may ask anyway... Never know..

No I'm not sadly. It's a full standard SIM, no adaptor.

Sims can fail. It's very unusual but I have seen it. I guess it depends how often it's happening but if its frequently happening do you have another you could test with? Or get a replacement. I agree this could be a red herring but as I say I have seen faulty sims on on on occasion. If its a relatively old one I'd try another one.

Thanks for advice. It's a new SIM, only 6 months old I reckon. I may ask for a replacement..you never know I guess.

Mine did it very regularly for about a week a little while after I got the car. Had to pop it in and out frequently. But touch wood it's been reliable for ages now. The car did go into the dealers for a boot issue and they said they updated software. No idea if it was the update or the sim just wasn't seated properly.

Thanks for the feedback JMB7 appreciate it. Its actually been pretty reliable, maybe 2-3 times over 6 months, only I had a spate of it happening 4-5 times in 2 days... now it seems to be fine again...

are you still having sim probs? And anyone else with this?
i must of missed this post as mine does the same
if you want a quick fix rather than wait till late or next day when it just comes back up
i have to do a factory restore on the Audi connect back to factory settings only that part though not all the MMI unit

mines been like this from new happen next day after I received car and like you Andy only happens once every 2 months or so but did have it happen twice one weekend
