Sorry, I'm sure this is probably covered in a thread somewhere but I haven't managed to find it....

My 2016 black edition was supplied to me without any leads. Contacted dealer and he sent me 2 - one has lightning connector, the other is usb. However when plugged into socket under armrest neither of these seem to support charging of the phone. Should they?

Im assuming I need a 12v to lightning lead but just before I buy one I thought I'd check!

My phone definitely charges using the Audi-supplied cable (micro-USB cable in my case) from the USB port under the armrest. Changing the cable won't make any difference, I think. Have you tried both USB ports (with the ignition on)? There is some confusion over whether both ports function in the same way. I thought they both charged but only one would connect to the media centre - but it may be the other way round. At some point, I though Audi made both ports function in the same way. As I said, it's confusing...

The Lightening AMI lead does support charging. Check the lead is properly plugged into the phone, especially if you have a case on the phone. Also is the car recognising that the phone is connected when you press the media button and select "source". If you are going to play music from your phone via the AMI connection then you should diasable audio streaming in the bluetooth menu or the car gets confused

Mine also not always charges my iPhone.
I have an A6 from 2012 with the AMI in the arm rest.
It's just like the AMI only gives a certain amount of amperes trough.
If i just lay down my iPhone 6S Plus and nothing is open like Spotify e.d it charges (very slow but it charges).
When i open Spotify e.d it shows the charging emblem but it doesn't charges, it even discharge but slowly.

My conclusion is that it only gives a certain amount of amperes trough.

My MY15 car will charge my iPhone 6S+ or iPad through either USB port under the armrest using a standard lightening cable.

Mine is still with the Audi AMI connector, not the USB port.

Mine charges my iPhone using the AMI-lightning cable but not very fast. You also get the message about it conflicting with Bluetooth, so I've got a cigarette-lighter charger lead which seems to provide more power, is longer (so my girlfriend can Whatsapp while its charging) and allows Bluetooth music to work without a warning.

Same over here. Just plugged in a mini cigarette Dual USB Charges so it doesn't take a lot af place. My music goes over Bluetooth but the sound quality is not always as good as if you plug it in with the AMI cable.

Thanks for feedback. Looks like the 12v feed is the way to go.

Forgive my asking, but where do you connect other than via a 12V USB adapter in the auxiliary socket? I don't see anywhere else to plug in to.....
