Do Mk5/6 roof racks fit MK7 ?

Looking at buying a set of roof racks for my MK7 GT 5 door and there are a few second hand on ebay but mainly for the earlier models. Thule show a different kit number for the MK7 which gives clue I suppose but does anyone have any advice on this please ? Can I fit a MK5 or 6 roof rack on my MK 7 ?

Are you referring to the VW roof racks (or roof bars?)?

I've looked on Roof racks, roof boxes, bike carriers, luggage bags who quote the fittings required for Thule roof bars and they are saying that the bars and feet are identical for Golf 5's 6's and 7's but the Golf 7 needs a different fitting kit. (The beauty of buying Thule bars is that it is so easy to adapt existing roof bars to a new car!

Thanks Chris I think that confirms my thoughts. Its the whole thing, bar and fitting kit I was after and was hoping a MK6 would fit a MK7 but not the case it seems. Just hoping for a bargain given the few times I will use it but its a very handy thing to have in the garage but not any I can see for sale just yet.

It's a relatively cheap option to buy a new Thule 1710 fitting kit for £40, and a secondhand Thule 754 foot kit with 127cm Thule bars (which are the ones used on Golf 5s and 6s.) In fact I see that the link I offered also supply used kits as they trade in old for new. (My only connection with them is as a satisfied customer by the way!)
